988 Suicide Prevention Lifeline — 988lifeline.org — Dial 9-8-8
The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is a national network of local crisis centers that provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in the United States. After dialing 988, the caller is routed to their nearest crisis center to receive immediate counseling and local mental health referrals. The Lifeline supports people who call for themselves or someone they care about.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is dedicated to Saving Lives and Bringing Hope to Those Affected by Suicide. Established in 1987, the AFSP is a voluntary health organization that gives those affected by suicide a nationwide community empowered by research, education and advocacy to take action against this leading cause of death.

NAMI is a grassroots organization with 1,200 affiliates that advocates for better mental health care. The group offers extensive educational programs and maintains an active presence on Capitol Hill and in state houses across the country, supporting treatment and research for mental illness on par with other illnesses.
