Susan Rushing, CEO
Susan Rushing has worked in various roles at Burke since 1980 and as Chief Executive Officer since 1990. Ms. Rushing is responsible for organizational planning, operations, budgeting, supervision, and monitoring of the organization. Ms. Rushing holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with major in psychology and a Masters of Art degree in clinical psychology. She has served as representative to the Professional and Technical Advisory Committee of JCAHO and is past Chair of the Board of Directors of Mental Health Corporations of America, Inc. and the Executive Directors Consortium of the Texas Council of Community MHMR Centers, Inc. She holds membership in numerous other professional and community organizations.
Mark Janes, M.D., Medical Director
Dr. Mark Janes has served as Medical Director of Burke since 1994. Dr. Janes has a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and received a medical degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1989. He is licensed by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners and is board certified in general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. He is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, American Psychiatric Association, Texas Medical Association, and the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians.
Melanie Taylor, Chief Administrative Officer
Melanie Taylor has worked at Burke since 1986 and has served as the Chief Administrative Officer since 2003. She is responsible for the overall administration of Burke’s human resources, community relations, quality management, information services, and reimbursement departments. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in rehabilitation and a Masters of Science degree in business management. Ms. Taylor is a member of the Society for Human Resource Professionals, the Mental Health Corporations of America Human Resource Consortia and the Texas Council of Community MHMR Centers Human Resource Consortia.
Jake Squiers, Chief Operating Officer
Jake Squiers has served as the Chief Operating Officer for Burke since 2008. Mr. Squiers is responsible for Burke’s field operations, including mental health, substance abuse, developmental disability, early childhood intervention, integrated care and veterans programs. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Washington and Lee University.
